Bob's
Basics: Keeping Gutters Clean
No matter
what type of gutter system you have, it must be kept clear to
do its job.
There are
all kinds of screens, grilles, louvers, and caps that claim to
do the trick. These gizmos may keep the leaves out, but small
particles, like silt and the surface granules from roof shingles,
slip through, creating a heavy sludge that clogs spouts.
So don't think
installing one of these systems relieves you of your twice-a-year
responsibility to clean out your gutters.
